Del mondo di Star Trek sappiamo molte cose, sarà che quest’anno sono cinquanta gli anni dalla prima messa in onda della serie tv fantascientifica. Per celebrare questo avvenimento straordinario, la birreria Shmaltz ha deciso di creare la birra di Star Trek in due edizioni limitate: “Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles” (il problema con i Tribbles) e “Golden Anniversary Ale: Voyage To The Northeast Quadrant” (viaggio nel quadrante nord-est).
La prima debutterà alla premiere di Star Trek Beyond al cinema IMAX Embarcadero Marina Park, il 20 luglio ed al Comic-Con di San Diego dal 21 al 24 luglio. Sarà disponibile anche disponibile alla convention “Star Trek Las Vegas” al Rio Hotel & Casino dal 3 al 7 agosto.
La seconda versione della birra di Star Trek, Voyage To The Northeast Quadrant, vedrà la luce al Mission New York Convention al Javits Center dal 2 al 4 settembre 2016. Qui sotto un estratto delle descrizioni delle due tipologie di birre (giuro che avrei voluto tradurle entrambe ma non avevo idea di cosa stessi scrivendo, buona traduzione a voi!).
Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles. Light Carastan malt gives some residual sweetness in the form of very light toffee. A dose of Munich adds a slight bready quality, and wheat malt lends to a slight crisp character. Mashing at a moderate temperature gives this beer a medium body. In keeping with the intergalactic theme, hopping is comprised of Comet, Polaris, Aurora and Admiral (Kirk) hops.
Shmaltz’s second offering for Star Trek 50, Voyage To The Northeast Quadrant, harnesses a crisp, clean malt character showcased by the use of light Munich malts and brewer’s maze. The aroma is accented by fresh citrus fruits such as lemon and lime with subtle notes of white wine.
